Acoustic Research Laboratories has developed a new type of camera ticketing system that can issue tickets to vehicles passing by that exceeded the predetermined noise threshold. It can detect loud sub-woofers, a noisy exhaust, or even an inopportune honk of the horn.

The system works with a combination of sound level meters, cameras and computer processors to identify potential targets. Separate microphone and video modules are mounted in waterproof boxes that communicate with a laptop control unit using WiFi. Acoustic Research Laboratories claims that the system distinguishes predetermined trigger sounds from general background road noise. Once configured, it will generate up to 10,000 tickets before the on-board hard drive is filled. A 10-second video and audio clip is stored for each incident so.

it seems like a pretty simple concept, but WHY!!!

bikes can cruise around with more or less open pipes (in ontario anyway) yet cars are nabbed by police left right & center. people should quit whining & let others have some fun! i know, i'll stop whining now.
