Audi pulls R10 from ALMS; R8 will race once again

When Audi unveiled the R10 early this year it was made clear - Audi's goal is to win the 2006 24 hours of Le Mans with the diesel powered R10. Today Audi showed just how serious they were about this goal by pulling the R10's from American Le Mans Series and returning them to Europe to focus all efforts in preparing for the 24 hours in June.
This comes as a surprise since they've only run one ALMS race which they won; becoming the first diesel power race car to win an endurance race. To try and help make up for the lack of R10's in the ALMS races Audi will be campaigning a single Audi R8 for Sebring winners Allan McNish and Dindo Capello which allows them to gain championship points while the two R10s compete at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The R10's will miss three ALMS races but will hopefully return for the July 15th event in Utah.
