It appears as if British drivers are trusing what they see on the GPS screen more then what is through their windshiled. The British town of Luckington has been pulling on average two cars a day from the river Avon. Apparently they are following their GPS recommended route dispite the fact that the bridge is out. Despite warning signs on boths sides of the road people are continuing to drive into the river. When you ask what happened, they say, 'My sat-nav told me it was this way,'" one resident told The Times.

Julie Jackson, 45, of Carterton, Oxfordshire, and her mother, Delcie Fielder, 70, had to abandon their Rover 220 in mid-stream after “we heard this gurgling sound and water came right into the car, covering our feet”.

We live in a village where exactly the samething happens. fortunately the river is mostly low enough. When the water is high you do see people wondering what to do.
But high means ferocious currents and that usually means they stop and think.
except the odd few. Its called Braughing and its in Hertfordshire.
