The all-new BMW 760Li will take its place as the most exclusive luxury sedan in the BMW lineup, combining a superlative new powertrain with distinctive, yet subtle exterior highlights.
The heart of the new BMW 760Li is a completely new 6.0 litre all-aluminum twelve-cylinder power unit with High Precision direct fuel injection and Twin Turbo technology. Developed as a completely new engine “from the ground up”, the V12, also equipped with double-VANOS infinitely adjustable camshaft timing, is a masterpiece of modern engine technology, delivering 544 hp @ 5,000 rpm and a staggering 553 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,000 rpm.
This new engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, making its world debut in a BMW production vehicle. The new transmission not only optimizes efficiency, but ensures a seamless transfer of the enormous power reserves, in keeping with the character of an ultimate luxury performance sedan. The combination whisks the BMW 760Li from 0 – 100 km/hr in just 4.6 seconds.
Pricing isn’t set yet but rest assured it will be north of $100,000
For S-class and CL-class shoppers who want aggressive AMG looks–but don’t want or can’t afford to pony up for the full-fledged AMG versions–Mercedes has announced just the thing for them. Starting in June, Mercedes will offer an AMG Sports package for both the S-class and CL-class models with exterior and interior revisions.
For the exterior, the package adds a front lip, side sills and a rear apron from the AMG models to the entry-level S-class and CL-class versions. Nineteen-inch, five-spoke AMG wheels also are added, with 20-inch rims available as an option.
Inside, the AMG Sports package includes black ash wood trim, a wood/leather steering wheel and brushed stainless-steel sport pedals.
A small performance enhancement comes in the brake department with the addition of cross-drilled rotors up front.

On sale in October, the first-ever Porsche sedan will cost more than the BMW M5 with prices starting at $89,800 for the base rear-wheel-drive Panamera S and rising to $93,800 for the four-wheel-drive Panamera 4S. While the top of the line model will be the extensively equipped four-wheel-drive Panamera Turbo, with a $132,600 price tag that will push it into direct competition with the Maserati Quattroporte GTS and the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide.
The Panamera will be available with the choice of two 4.8-liter V8 direct-injection engines, both now in use in the Cayenne. The S and the 4S models get a naturally aspirated engine rated at 394 hp at 6,500 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. In turbocharged form, the four-valve-per-cylinder engine delivers 493 hp at 6,000 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque at just 2,250 rpm.
Porsche claims the Panamera is good for 0-to-62-mph times of 5.6 seconds, 5.0 seconds and 4.2 seconds, respectively, for the S, the 4S and the Turbo. The latter also is capable of hitting 100 mph in 9.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 188 mph.

Ferrari has announced that they will be debuting a new car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show: the Ferrari 599XX.
The 599XX will serve as Ferrari’s rolling testbed for the latest technological developments from the company’s road-going and Formula One work. Although specifics haven’t been revealed, Ferrari claims many of the systems implemented for the 599XX are being used for the first time and are exclusivly developed for the model. Essentially the 599xx is a developmental version of the 599 that blends the company’s latest technology with customer input. The program is similar to the FXX program that used modified Ferrari Enzos.
In the words of Ferrari, it’s “aimed at a select group of clients,” so look for it to make it to the road in some form.
Last month at the Detroit auto show Ford took the wraps off both the redesigned 2010 Taurus sedan and the automaker’s new twin-turbo V-6, dubbed EcoBoost. Today, the two meet in a high-performance model which is going to bring back the legendary name plate of SHO. Super High Output Taurus models originated in 1989 and had a 10-year run of brisk sales, generating a cult following in the enthusiast community.
The new SHO Taurus will feature the EcoBoost 365-hp twin-turbo engine, all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension. With a starting price of $37,995 the SHO is priced to compete against the Charger SRT8 and the G8 GXP, both of which have over 400 hp but don’t offer all-wheel drive or the trim level shown in the new SHO.
Shelby SuperCars (SSC) known for their Ultimate Aero supercar the current title holder of worlds fastest produciton car has debuted a new green supercar the Ultimate Aero EV. Based on the current production model, Shelby removes the 1,287 hp gasoline engine from the Ultimate Aero and replaces it with what they are calling the All-Electric Scalable Powertrain or AESP.
The twin motor AESP in the Ultimate Aero EV will produce 1,000 HP and 800 lb-ft of torque giving it a 0-60 time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph. SSC is claiming a range of 150-200 miles on a single charge and a recharge time of only 10 minutes on a 220v plug.
The 2009 Nissan 370Z which debuted a little over a month ago to much fan fare has now been revealed as a convertible. Based upon leaked photos Road & Track put together the above illustration showing what the up coming roadster will look like.
The roof will be a power-folding cloth design which will keep both cost and weight down. Power remains the same as the hard top 370Z at 332 bhp from the 3.7-liter V-6. Pricing is expected to be about the same as the 350Z Roadster was but nothing is being confirmed by Nissan at this time.
