Originally released in July of 1989 Paul’s Boutique was the 2nd album from the Beastie Boys following the smash hit License to Ill. Although it wasn’t a massive commercial success at first, Paul’s Boutique has gone on to be recognized as one of the great Hip Hop albums of all time and is still considered to be one of the examples of the use of sampling ever put onto wax. Blender has ranked Paul’s Boutique #37 of the 100 greatest albums while Rolling Stone places it #156 of the 500 best albums.
